Yakima, WA – Borton Fruit is beyond appreciative for all the hard working, long term, key employees we have on our team. This month we would like to feature Karina Rodriguez! This year mark’s 8 years Karina has been a part of our Borton Crew!
Karina was born here in the Yakima Valley, growing up in Toppenish, WA. Upon completion from Toppenish High School, she obtained her Cosmetology license and worked at her aunt’s salon; Coco’s Hair Salon in Toppenish. “While being a hair stylist Monday through Friday, I decided to get my first office job on the weekends being an assistant manager for On Gard Min Storage. I really enjoyed the office environment,” Karina said. After working two jobs for about two years, Karina decided to move to Spokane to help her sister out with her in home daycare. “Once I got to Spokane, I decided to stay for about 3 years, doing a mixture of things. I took a few Office Font Professional classes, helped out at the daycare, and worked for Allied American Credit office in clerical support” she said.
In 2009, Karina decided to move back to Yakima to be closer to more of her family. Upon arrival she saw Borton Fruit was hiring for a receptionist position and she applied right away. Karina was hired November 2nd, 2009. She worked as a receptionist answering phones, doing many miscellaneous data entry projects, filing for multiple departments in the office, and processing all sales invoices to mail out to customers. In 2013, Karina was moved into the Sales Department doing multiple clerical tasks to keep everything in order. Since 2013, Karina has refined the invoicing process, taking it to the next level and tightening it up so things flow accordingly. “I currently keep everything organized in the Sales Department, from data auditing of all sales orders, invoicing, filing anything pertaining to sales and accounts receivables, as well as keeping all supplies stocked for all sales personnel needs” Karina said. In addition, Karina back’s up the front desk when needed and helps people in other departments with various tasks. “I really enjoy working with everybody here, we have all become close over the years and feel to be one big family” she went onto say.
Karina is married to Lewis Rodriguez and has 3 beautiful children; Nicko 9 years old, Jade 3 years old, and Kalanni 1 ½ years old. In her time away from work, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family. She also still enjoys doing hair and eyelash extensions on the side.
Thank You Karina for all you do for us, we are very thankful to have you as a part of our Borton Fruit sales team. Your attention to detail and ambition to keep everything so organized in here helps us immensely.
