Meet our featured employee of the month, Sergio Lopez!

Yakima, WA – Each month, Borton & Sons, Inc. has been featuring key employees that add great value to our business. This month we are highlighting Sergio Lopez who plays a very vital role in our orchards, supervising 8 large Borton Fruit ranches.

Sergio was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. His father brought him to Yakima when he was 14 years old.  Sergio was enrolled at Franklin Middle School.  He then went onto attend Davis High School, graduating in 1997.  In the meantime, his father got a job at Borton Fruit and Sergio would come out and work in the orchards during his summers to make some money.  He also helped out at Apple Tree Golf Couse, another Borton owned entity, doing some gardening.

On March 18th, 2005, Sergio began working in the fields here at Borton Fruit full time.  After showing hard work and dedication, he was promoted to being a field supervisor.  “I’ve seen this company expand immensely.  Borton fruit has bought so many new ranches and planted countless orchards since I first began.    I’m now in charge of 8 of them” Sergio said.

Sergio supervises crews at the following Borton Fruit Ranches: Jetton, Potter, Cliff, Mahoney, Mahoney North, Mahoney West, Udell and Zimmerman. His main responsibilities consist of running his crew efficiently in all orchard aspects; new orchard plantings, pruning, irrigation, etc.  During bloom season, he is responsible for getting up early and checking the temperature, if needed he goes out and turns the heaters and/or fans on.  “I really enjoy my job, with recent implementations and processes, everything is going very smoothly and the quality of our Borton crops will continue leading the industry” stated Sergio.

Sergio is married and has two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, and when able to getting out and playing soccer.

Thank You Sergio for everything you do. We are very confident that you are running your crews accordingly and making sure that all processes are being followed as required.  You are a big part of our team and we appreciate knowing when something is asked of you it gets done.  Thank You, from all here at Borton Fruit.
