Meet Mario Garcia, Our Featured Employee of the Month!

Yakima, WA – Borton Fruit would like to recognize a long term key employee this month, Mario Garcia. Mario, his wife Veronica Garcia, and a few of their children have all been a part of our Borton Family for some time now.  This year mark’s 22 years of hard work and dedication from Mario!

Mario was born in Mexico City in 1965. Growing up, he lived the country life being raised around all kinds of animals.  He decided to come to Washington to find a good job.  Upon his arrival, he started working out in the field for Larson Fruit.  After doing that for approximately four years, Mario decided he wanted to work on the packing side of the business in the warehouse rather than the field.  He decided to apply at Borton & Sons, Inc. and inquire for a warehouse position.

Borton Fruit hired Mario in June of 1994. Since hired, Mario has transitioned through multiple parts of the business.  He started out as a packer on the line and with time was moved into the shipping department as a forklift driver.  After proving Mario could do anything that was thrown his direction, he was asked to be in a supervisor role managing product receiving and internal logistics.  Mario currently keeps track of all incoming bins of fruit by tracking the bin inventory and room charts.  He also supervises our Borton Fruit truck drivers.  He’s continually keeping track of the daily requests and coordinates the internal logistics as needed, from distributing fruit between warehouses, picking up full or empty bins in the field and taking them to the appropriate place, as well as making sure all the drivers maintain proper certifications.

Outside of work, Mario loves spending time with his family and in-laws. “Family is very important to me.   I have a beautiful wife, three beautiful daughters, a son and six grandchildren” stated Mario.  He also enjoys doing house projects, working on cars, playing soccer and cooking.

“I’m very happy to be a Borton employee. I’ve learned so much from this company.  I feel as though the Borton family is my family as well” he said.

Thank You Mario for all your hard work, attention to detail, and leadership within our company. You have conquered every responsibility we’ve given you over the past 22 years.  We are very appreciative for all you do here at Borton Fruit.
