Apple Pear and Cherry Salsa Recipe's for Cinco de Mayo

Yakima, WA – Borton Fruit provides some tasty Salsa recipes to try for your upcoming Cinco de Mayo meal planning.  This is a day full of tradition and consumption of tortilla’s, tortilla chips, avocados/guacamole, tacos, beans and salsa are in high demand.

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the United States and Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla.  The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862.  The significance behind this battle was that the 4,000 Mexican soldiers who fought were greatly outnumbered by the well-equipped French army of 8,000 that had not been defeated for almost 50 years. 

Celebrations in the United States include costumes in the colors of the Mexican Flag, attending parades/carnivals, listening to Mariachi Band’s and/or Mexican folk music accompanied by traditional dancing, and of course eating our favorite traditional Mexican foods,  most being even better covered in your favorite Salsa recipe’s.
