Yakima, WA – Borton Fruit would like to recognize Oscar Garcia as our featured employee of the month for April. We are very blessed to have so many key long term employees, and Oscar is one of those people!
Oscar was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He came to the United States with some friends when he was 15 years old. Upon his arrival to the States, Oscar got a job with Green Acres in Harrah and worked in the field for about 3 months. He then went to Carlson Orchards for approximately a year and then Royce Orchards for a brief period of time.
Oscar started working here at Borton in 1987. The next 11 years, he worked during the harvest months and returned to Mexico for the other remaining months of the year. At this time his responsibilities were pruning, picking and thinning. Oscar was promoted to being a field supervisor and full-time employee in 1998. “I’ve loved my new role in the company and haven’t looked back since” stated Oscar. His supervisor role includes all the ranch manager responsibilities that come into play in the field. In addition to the pruning, picking and thinning, Oscar oversees 450 acres, all employees, keeps track of temperatures and works with irrigation. “I’m very grateful for this position and opportunity to continually be learning new things” Oscar said.
In 1993 he married Maria Guadalupe Garcia and since they have had three sons and one daughter. Oscar enjoys volleyball, baseball and playing/hanging out with his kids and family.
Thank You Oscar for your 28 years of dedication. We appreciate everything you do for us while leading your team in such an imperative role within our company.
